GTA 6 file size confirmed at up to 212GB on PS5
Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will need up to 212GB of storage space on PS5. The figure was shared alongside pre-load details, ending weeks of speculation about the download size.
How big is the GTA 6 download?
Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will take up to 212GB of hard drive space on PS5, as reported by MP1st, The Verge and Push Square on 3 November 2026. The figure comes straight from Rockstar, so it replaces the various rumoured numbers that have been floating around for weeks.
If you are clearing space for launch, it is worth planning for the full amount rather than a smaller estimate. The download size applies to the PS5 version, and the game arrives on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When can I pre-load GTA 6?
The same announcement included pre-load times, so players can download the game ahead of release rather than waiting on launch day. Pre-loading means the files are ready on your console before the game unlocks.
With a download this large, pre-loading is likely to save a long wait. Check your console's storage early and make room if you need to.
Do boxed copies include a map?
Push Square reports that a physical map is available for GTA 6, but it is not included in boxed copies of the game. If you want the map, it will need to come from somewhere other than the standard box.
No PC version of GTA 6 has been announced. The game is set for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026.
