GTA 6 console stock warnings from Sony and Microsoft
Sony and Microsoft have both warned that console stock will be tight as the GTA 6 launch and Black Friday draw near, IGN reported on 3 November 2026. The report also looked at which PS5 and Xbox consoles players can actually find in stock right now.
Why are PS5 and Xbox consoles hard to find before GTA 6?
Both platform holders have flagged tight stock as two big shopping moments arrive close together: the GTA 6 launch on 19 November 2026 and Black Friday. IGN reported the warnings on 3 November 2026 and set out which consoles are available and which are not.
GTA 6 arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and no PC version has been announced. That means anyone who wants to play at launch needs one of those two consoles in hand before 19 November.
Which consoles are in stock right now?
IGN's round-up checks current availability across the PS5 and Xbox ranges, so it is worth reading before you set out to buy. Stock can differ by retailer and region, and it can change quickly in the run-up to Black Friday.
If you are shopping for a console specifically for GTA 6, check availability before you travel to a shop, and keep an eye on restocks as launch day gets closer.
What does this mean for Black Friday shoppers?
With both Sony and Microsoft warning about supply, Black Friday deals may be harder to act on if the console you want is out of stock. Players hoping to bag a discount and be ready for launch may need to move early rather than wait for the biggest sale day.
The warnings come from the two platform holders themselves, so the pressure on stock is worth taking seriously if a new console is on your list.
