GTA 6 File Size: How Many GB on PS5 and Xbox?
Rockstar hasn't announced the GTA 6 file size yet. It isn't on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store either. We'll know by preload day, November 12, 2026 at the latest, when the download starts. Until then, any number you see online is a guess.
How many GB is GTA 6?
Nobody official has said. Rockstar’s GTA 6 pages, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store don’t list a download size yet. You’ll see big numbers on social media and YouTube, but none of them come from Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft, so we don’t repeat them here.
| What | Status |
|---|---|
| PS5 download size | Not announced |
| Xbox Series X and Series S download size | Not announced |
| Preload opens | November 12, 2026 (confirmed) |
| Game unlocks | November 19, 2026 (confirmed) |
We’ll put the real size on this page as soon as it shows up on either store.
When will we find out the GTA 6 download size?
Store pages usually show the size before or on preload day. GTA 6 preload opens on November 12, 2026, so that’s the latest point we’d expect to see it. See our preload guide for how to start the download.
Will GTA 6 fit on my console?
Here’s roughly how much space each console has for games, once its own system files are taken off:
| Console | Usable space (approx.) |
|---|---|
| PS5 (original 825GB) | about 667GB |
| PS5 Slim | about 848GB |
| PS5 Pro | about 1.8TB |
| Xbox Series X (1TB) | about 802GB |
| Xbox Series S (512GB) | about 364GB |
GTA 6 is Rockstar’s biggest open world yet, so plan for a very large download. If your console is already full, the safest move is to free up space before November 12.
How do I free up space?
On PS5: go to Settings, then Storage, then Console Storage, then Games and Apps. Sort by size and delete anything you’re not playing. Saves backed up to the cloud with PlayStation Plus stay safe.
On Xbox: press the Xbox button, go to My games & apps, then Manage, and check the storage bar at the top. Uninstall big games you’ve finished. Xbox keeps your saves in the cloud.
You can also add storage: a compatible M.2 SSD on PS5, or an expansion card on Xbox Series X|S.
