Does GTA 6 Have Split Screen or Co-op?
No split screen or story co-op has been announced for GTA 6. Rockstar hasn't said you can play the story with a friend, on one screen or online. GTA 5 had neither: its story was single-player, and playing with friends happened in GTA Online.
Does GTA 6 have split screen?
Rockstar hasn’t announced split screen for GTA 6, and GTA 5 didn’t have it either. If that changes, we’ll update this page.
Can you play GTA 6 story mode with a friend?
Not as far as anyone officially knows. The story follows Lucia and Jason, and Rockstar hasn’t said a second player can take control of either of them. You may see claims online that story co-op is coming, but they come from rumours, not Rockstar.
| What | Status |
|---|---|
| Split screen (two players, one TV) | Not announced |
| Online co-op in story mode | Not announced |
| Online multiplayer mode | Not detailed yet |
How did GTA 5 do multiplayer?
GTA 5’s story was single-player only. Playing with friends happened in GTA Online, a separate online mode where you made your own character and teamed up for jobs, races and heists. Rockstar hasn’t detailed GTA 6’s online mode yet, so we don’t know if it works the same way. See our GTA 6 Online guide for what’s known.
