GTA 6 Online: Is There Multiplayer at Launch?
No online mode has been announced for GTA 6's launch. Rockstar calls GTA 6 a single-player experience, and Take-Two says the current GTA Online will keep being supported.
Does GTA 6 have online multiplayer?
Not at launch, as far as anyone has announced. When pre-orders opened on June 24, 2026, Rockstar described Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience. The PlayStation Store listing also says 1 player.
What did Take-Two say about GTA Online?
At Take-Two’s shareholder meeting on September 17, 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA 6 launches as a single-player game and that the company isn’t expecting ongoing player spending at launch. He also said the existing GTA Online, the one from GTA 5, will keep getting support.
What is GTA+ and why do I get a free month?
GTA+ is Rockstar’s subscription for the current GTA Online. It includes a games library. Digital pre-orders of GTA 6 come with a free month. A few things to know:
- You need to claim it by March 31, 2027.
- After the free month it renews as a paid subscription, so cancel if you don’t want it.
- It’s one claim per account.

When will GTA 6 Online come out?
Rockstar hasn’t said. Reports of a 2027 online mode are unconfirmed rumours for now; we keep track of them in our rumours check. Take-Two reports earnings again before launch, which is the next likely place for news.
